Bee Garden Party Wednesday 12 June 2019

United Kingdom

Wednesday 12 June 2019 London

A Bees for development event

Bees for Development's summer Bee Garden Party will take place 4.30-8pm on Wednesday 12 June in the gardens of Marlborough House, in London's Mall. With kind permission from the household of HM The Queen.

Hosted by Martha Kearney and Bill Turnbull, the Bee Garden Party is fast becoming the social highlight of the Bee Season, attracting hundreds of people, united by their interest in bees!

There will be a Bee Art Auction - starting on World Bee day (20 May) and will end on the evening of the Bee Garden Party on 12 June 2019. This is your chance to own unique Bee Art! Artists and celebrities from across the media have created wonderful bee art and bee doodles on postcards, with their signature on the back of the card – though sometimes with a clue on the front! Can you guess who is the artist of each picture?

Contributing artists and ‘doodlers’ already include Judi Dench, Antony Gormley, Kate Humble, Alexander Armstrong, Andrew Marr, Ian McKellen, Alison Steadman, Rachel Whiteread – with more contributions arriving every day.

This is a unique opportunity to visit the private gardens of this Royal Palace built by Sir Christopher Wren in 1710.  Marlborough House is headquarters for the Commonwealth.  To the south, the gardens border The Mall, while to the east is Queen Mary’s revolving summerhouse - its thatched roof is home for many solitary bees.
